Hope your 2012 has been a great one so far. It has been an exciting couple of months in the Children’s Ministry department. Our Sunday School classes are going strong with great teachers who are teaching God’s Word each week. Our Preschool Ministry has started a new curriculum during second service that gives the children opportunity to worship. During this time they will sing songs, have fun activities, create crafts, and hear stories of God’s Word. In our Grade School Ministry we will be starting a new curriculum where we will be discussing “The Big God Story.” We define the “The Big God Story” as God’s ENTIRE story. It incorporates all of history, stretching from Genesis to Revelation and beyond. In the past, Christian instruction has often been told in fragmented stories of God, Jesus, or other people in the Bible, as if they were not part of a greater narrative. I am very excited about what the children will be learning in the Children’s Ministry.
In order to continue to provide the best experience possible, we are always looking for ways to improve our ministry. Beginning in March, we will be starting an improved check-in system. This improved check-in system will be a smoother and faster process for all of our families. Please look over the check-In process and familiarize yourself with how you will check-in your child(ren) starting on March 18. You can find this process in the tab above.
In addition to the new check-in system, we also need to update our records on each child in the Children’s Ministry by having you fill out a Family Information Form. If you bring a child that does not live with you, (i.e. grandchild or a friend of your child) this child will need to fill out a separate family form. We will need your family’s information by March 4. If we do not receive the attached Family Information Form by this date, you will have to complete it before your child(ren) can be checked in on March 18. If you misplace this form, you can print another in the tab labeled Family Information Form above
There are many great things happening in the Children’s Ministry at Valley Mills. If you would like to be a part of this awesome team, please contact me. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve your child(ren). It is a great blessing to do so!
For His Kids,
“Do your best to live at peace with everyone.” Romans 12:18
Have you ever watched one of the old black and white alien movies? Or listened to the radio classic “War of the Worlds” with Orson Welles? It seems that most of those early alien features make the “visitors” to be eager to wipe out humans and take over the world. . I guess not until Alf or E.T. did aliens come in peace.
This week we discussed how we, as aliens, are to live at peace with everyone. Here is a game to help reinforce the lesson. You will need a hula hoop!
Start the game by saying, “Today we are talking about being a peacemaker. If we are going to be peacemakers, we must look at others as if they are on the same team as we are. We can’t fight against each other. This game is going to teach us how work together as a team as we become peacemakers.”
Join hands and make a circle. Insert the hula hoop so that it hangs on your joined hands. Now the fun part. Now move the hula hoop around your bodies without breaking apart your circle.
Have a great Week! PEACE!
